Best beard oil TOP-10 2023 – by The Beardman
The Beard Man keeps his TOP-10 with the best beard oil as well as his beard. So a groomed and masculine TOP-10 you can count on:
What is beard oil?
Just briefly for those men who don’t know: beard oil is a care product for the beard hairs and underlying skin. The Beard Man recommends using a good beard oil daily after showering.
What is beard oils good for?
It prevents dry skin by moisturising it. At the same time, it keeps beard hairs soft and gives a nice shine. Daily use of beard oil prevents dry skin, skin flakes and a harsh irritating beard. With beard oil, you can present yourself with a well-groomed beard and prevent annoying ‘ailments’.
Beard oils: does it work?
Beard oil works very well as a grooming product, but of course it is no miracle cure. For instance, there is a lot of marketing talk: ever heard of a beard oil that makes your beard hairs grow faster? It may have an effect, but it doesn’t provide the key to fast-growing beard hair.
Especially in the winter months, many men suffer from a dry beard: that’s when beard oil works best!
How to use beard oil?
- Use 3 – 5 drops of beard oil at a time. Place the oil in your palm and spread the beard oil evenly with your other index finger.
- Gently massage the beard oil into your beard and the skin underneath.
- Use a brush or a beard comb to comb your beard into shape.
When to use beard oil?
Beard oil is best used after showering. The pores of the skin are then open, making it easier to absorb the nourishing beard oil. However, it is important to dry your beard hair thoroughly first.
How often do you apply beard oil?
The Beard Man recommends applying beard oil once a day. On days when you trim your beard or if you suffer from a hard, itchy or painful beard, you could apply beard oil twice a day.
Conclusion: which beard oil to choose?
My first piece of advice for beard oil is: don’t skimp on the cost. Cheap beard oils from pre-owned drugstores are disappointing in practice. They are not made from 100% natural ingredients and often smell overly scented.
So opt for quality. Good, natural beard oil may be more expensive, but it lasts quite a long time and you will really notice the difference.
If you have a big, full beard, then I recommend my number 1: Proraso beard oil. A natural product that is good for skin and hair. Especially for sensitive skin, I would choose the Zudoo’s beard oil or the one from Guardenze. The latter especially if you suffer from dry skin.
Finally, I would also like to highlight two Dutch-made beard oils: VanBaard Premium oil and BAØRD Beard Oil. Nie the cheapest options, but excellent for both hair and skin.
Hi, I’m Sander!
The Beard Man
Growing a beard requires a dose of perseverance, proper grooming and the necessary knowledge. The Beardmen knows all about it: and will help you through it. Together on your way to a full beard!
Where to buy beard oil?
You can buy beard oil at your local drugstore or order it online. In principle, it doesn’t really matter where you buy beard oil. More important is the brand and the quality of the ingredients.
Beard oil Kruidvat
Besides beard oil from Gillette, Kruidvat also sells its own brand. Despite being inexpensive, Kruidvat and Gilette beard oils do not consist of 100% natural ingredients. This is the main reason why The Beard Man is not a big fan of commercial beard oils.
Beard oil The Gardens
Holland & Barrett sells a beard oil from its own brand De Tuinen. This is very cheap beard oil, but still a fine product. It does smell a bit if you ask The Beardmen. However, they do sell a high-quality oil that The Beardmen speaks highly of: the Hawkins & Brimble Beard Oil. A fine oil for the average beard; unfortunately, it does contain a perfume, which The Beardmen is less of a fan of.
Beard oil Rituals
Rituals’ beard oil – Ritual of Samurai – has earned a place in The Beardmen TOP-10. A good beard oil for all types of beards. A bit on the expensive side, but you get high-quality ingredients in return. And that is exactly what your beard needs.
Beard oil Etos
Etos sells beard oil from its own brand, but also from Gilette and L’Oreal. You buy your beard oil at Etos when you’re on a budget (just like at kruidvat), but the products themselves are very disappointing. Should the Beard Man still make a recommendation, he would choose L’Oréal’s beard oil, but at the same time it is a bit more expensive.
