Hair trimmers, like a body groomer, beard trimmer or nose trimmer need maintenance like any other tools. If you don’t, Beard Man knows all too well that the blades in them gradually lose their sharpness.
Do you know what happens if you try to shave your beard with dull clippers? It will result in a painful experience and even wounds on the face.
The Beard Man didn’t initially take to cleaning a trimmer either. But soon found out that it is best to wipe off stray hair and oil the blades after every use. Because these clean blades not only make the hair trimmer run smoothly, but also allow the motor to run without any friction that could slow it down.
Periodic cleaning is essential
Periodically cleaning your clippers is therefore essential, because shaving your face or head with an unclean clipper is not only difficult but also dirty. And if you are a professional stylist, run a barber shop or share your hair trimmer with several users, you should definitely disinfect your device.
A hair trimmer is a long-term investment. In the UK market, you’ll find a variety of brands with different qualities. Buying a replacement device twice a year makes no sense at all. By taking good care of the blades in it, you save a lot of money. The Beard Man recommends that you take the best possible care of your blades and wallet by cleaning your trimmer regularly.
Cleaning tips
Below are the best Beard Man tips for cleaning your razor, trimmer or clippers.
- Wash your hands before you start
- Make sure your trimmer is switched off
- Remove the shaver head from your device and use the cleaning brush to wipe away any hair and skin build-up. If this head cannot be removed, you can brush the blade area clean
- Rinse the shaving head under the tap to wash away any excess skin, hair and/or oil. If your tool is fully waterproof, you can wash the entire shaving head
- Dry the head of your trimmer and put it back on the tool
- Spray your clipper or trimmer with clipper spray. This not only cleans your shaving head, but lubricates your blades so they are fully ready for your next shave.
If you don’t have clipper spray, The Beard Man recommends using clipper oil on your trimmer. Hold your trimmer on its side and place a drop or two of clipper oil on the blade area.
Make sure that you do not use too much clipper oil! You only want to use a few drops. Don’t ruin your blades by drowning them! Afterwards, run your trimmer for a few seconds to distribute this oil optimally.
In addition, don’t forget to use only a soft brush for cleaning. You can use a toothbrush for this or just grab a special cleaning brush.
In a nutshell
The initial cost of buying a hair trimmer can be high. But if you take good care of it, it will pay for itself with its long-lasting performance. In Great Britain and in the UK in general, you have heaps of good quality brands to choose from. The Beard Man recommends this when you first use your trimmer. Then make it a habit to clean your clippers after every session. Once that habit is established, it ensures the very best performance and longevity.
